Regaining her confidence
Carol M., Age 65
Living with psoriasis since 1973
Carol has been living with psoriasis for more than 30 years. Describing some of the difficulties of living with her condition, Carol says, “I always wore long sleeves and I couldn't wear shorts or get a pedicure. If my legs were exposed, I was forced to explain to friends, family, and coworkers what the blotches were.” Her psoriasis covered 90% of her body, and her psoriasis symptoms severely affected her scalp, face, and ears.
“Eventually, I just learned to live with it,” Carol recalls.
Dermatologists prescribed a multitude of psoriasis treatments, but Carol didn't see the results she wanted. Carol remained focused on finding something to help her manage her psoriasis symptoms and discussed her feelings with her doctor. Finally, in 2005, her dermatologist started her on a therapy that worked well for her. The psoriasis on her head and legs improved. Carol says, “I feel much better about myself now. Of course, I still have psoriasis; but, I only have three large spots on my whole body.” Carol didn't lose hope, and she eventually found a treatment that helps her live confidently with her condition.
